|
Activities of the Foundation The Foundation attempts to initiate and maintain contacts with institutions and organizations engaged in similar activities to those of the Foundation, in the teaching and training of foreigners in Poland, and in promotion of the Polish educational system. It has presently established cooperation with UNESCO (Paris) and INKORVUZ (Moscow). The Foundation is especially interested in joining efforts with other Foundations with similar aims. It has made a number of interesting cooperation offers and is interested in entertaining offers as well. One of the aims of the Foundation "COPERNICUS" is the promotion of Polish education, Polish Institutions of Higher Education, and Polish scientific and academic research. Beginning three years ago it began to compile and publish a bilingual Information Catalogue of Polish Institutions of Higher Education, in English and Polish. This Catalogue contains specific information on the offerings and addresses of selected Polish Institutions of Higher Education, both public and private. It is distributed free of charge to all high school and university educational district offices as well as to Polish Diplomatic Offices in more than 100 countries (through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The Foundation has become the patron of the quarterly journal "KONTAKT" published by the Liaison Centre for Foreign Graduates of Polish Universities of the University of £ód¼, addressed to foreigners educated in Poland throughout the world. All volumes of this journal will be available in their entirety on the internet at www.Fundacji. The "COPERNICUS" Foundation is inspiring empirical research into the activities of foreigners educated in Poland, presently focusing on collecting information on their further professional careers in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It maintains a data bank containing information on foreign graduates, doctoral students and habilitation students as well as their publications and scientific activities as a base for conducting further research. This data base is updated annually. In addition the Foundation maintains a current data base on Polish institutions of higher education, both public and private, which is available on its website. The Foundation's number one priority
continues to be the establishment of a scholarship fund for foreigners
wishing to study in Poland. In order to establish the same it is
collecting funds and donations from sponsors and from its own activities.
